Teen testifies she was attacked by FL man

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, FL (WTOC) - Tuesday was the second of the sentencing phase in the murder trial for a Florida man.

Steven Cozzie, 23, was convicted last week on all charges including first-degree murder, sexual assault, aggravated kidnapping and aggravated child abuse in the 2011 death of 15-year-old Courtney Wilkes.

On Tuesday, a 16-year-old girl from Kentucky testified that she was also attacked by Cozzie just days before Wilkes's death. The girl did not come forward until April 2013.

The sentencing phase is expected to wrap up on Wednesday.

JEFF DAVIS CO., GA (WTOC)- Two people are charged with manufacturing meth after a search of a home in Jeff Davis County. 

Several different types of over-the-counter sinus medication wer found during a traffic stop, according to the Jeff Davis County Sheriff's Office. That led Sheriff Preston Bohannon and deputies to search a home on Bradford Lane. 

Deputies found components to manufacture methamphetamines and secured the scene, according to the JDCSO. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called in to collect evidence and decontaminate the home.

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, FL (WTOC) - A man convicted of murder in the 2011 death of a Lyons
teenager could be sentenced as early as Wednesday.

The fate of Steven Cozzie is in the hands of a Florida
jury who convicted him of murder and other charges in the death of 15-year-old Courtney
Wilkes. The jury is deciding whether to recommend life in prison or the death
penalty.

Courtney's mother and father took the stand during
the first day of the penalty phase to talk about how the loss of their daughter
has affected their life.

VIDALIA, GA (WTOC)- White ribbons returned to mailboxes and light poles in Vidalia, Lyons, and across Toombs County. People used them two years ago to express their sorrow over the murder of 15-year-old Courtney Wilkes. They hung new ribbons last week as the murder trial began and ended and the sentencing phase started today.
